I'm happy to say I finally found time to post some of our materials from the Dáil briefing on the website.
They can be found on the Activities page.
We had six speakers altogether who were a mix of carers, professionals, and sufferers of eating disorders. We told our stories about the difficulties in accessing care, and how it has had an impact on our lives.
We also discussed our top 3 asks, and more practically, what they could look like if implemented.
Our most important ask is staffing and funding, as services can never be consistent or complete without them.
Our second ask was for a better connected service, which includes transition from CAMHS to AMHS, a stepped model of care, and a better connection in mental health and physical health treatment.
Our final ask was for a dedicated eating disorder centre with specialised staff, holistic treatment of body and mind together, and a better use of funds than a disjointed service.
We really appreciated the opportunity to present, and hopefully will get the urgent funding and staffing that is needed to maintain and improve care.
